Awarded Grant Programs
An ongoing mission for Windy Pines is to shift decision-making on grants from our white and privileged perspectives to the hands of the community we serve. In 2023, we engaged with six respected and experienced BIPOC community members and requested their support in awarding grants. Our Board of Directors approved $20,000 to be distributed by each of the six individuals for a total of $120,000.00.
Our guidelines were to select their grantees according to WPF's mission and purposes, not fund a group they are currently employed by, and choose non-profits that have yet to receive funding from Windy Pines. Through this process, we were newly connected with many organizations doing great work in our community. We were honored by the energy and care our community grant awarders brought to this project, and we’re looking forward to expanding the amount of grant funding awarded in this way. We are committed to moving both funds and decision-making authority into BIPOC hands and hearts.
